Carved Oak Box Stool

A custom interpretation of a 17th century classic.

The design of this box stool was based upon elements from multiple antique examples.  Everything from the turned legs, to the carving design, to the lock was customized to meet the customer’s desired aesthetic.  The stool is made entirely from solid oak.  The top is a single wide board of figured oak. The carvings were all done by hand in a traditional 17th century design.  All joints are drawbored mortise & tenon.  The traditional snipe hinges and hasp style lock were hand forged by a blacksmith.  The finish is boiled linseed oil.
