An unmarked beech, English made coffin smoother. The body is 7 3/4″ long. The iron is a 2 1/16″ laminated Robert Sorby with kangaroo logo. Unfortunately the back of the iron is pitted pretty badly, but I managed to lap enough of the pitting out of the back near the cutting edge to make it a useful plane, at least until you get back to where the pitting starts again. The body has some stains but it has been cleaned and waxed and tuned up. I can’t guarantee that when it gets to you the sole won’t need re-flattening (it’s wood, it moves, and I live in a very humid area), but it should take less than a minute to do on some 220 grit. Despite it’s few cosmetic flaws, this is a very good working wooden smoother.
