Aggressive coping saw blade – 16 tpi or less than this? Fine coping saw blade I’m guessing is 24 tpi. Thanks
I’d look for something as coarse as you can get. The 12″ blade that Tools for Working Wood sells for their 12″ turning saw is 10 PPI. TFWW and Lee Valley also sell Pegas coping saw blades at 10 TPI. That’s not too coarse. The blade I used in the video was 11 PPI I think. I would consider the 18 TPI blade that they sell a fine toothed blade.
My Amazon purchased Olsen coping saw has 15 tpi. It worked well enough, especially as i cut the stretchers in pairs, so 4 pairs of cuts rather than 8 separate cuts. Definitely the coping saw round cuts are rougher than the straight cuts, but the design of the bench hides a good bit of that and a piece of sandpaper solves the worst of it. On to assembly! Cheers
