Walnut Burl Veneered Box

A reproduction of an 18th century classic

This box is made of solid walnut, with a white pine bottom, walnut burl veneer and quarter sawn walnut banding. It was based upon an antique box made around 1730 in Chester county Pennsylvania. Sometimes called a bible box today, in the 1700s, these boxes could have been used to store important papers, spices, tea, or just about anything else that needed to be protected from insects, vermin, and the elements.
