Video: How to Make an Improved French Marking Gauge

Ten years ago, I made a video on how to make a French style marking gauge that has been my most popular video on YouTube to date. You can watch that original video here. The gauge I made in that video was based on an article written by my friend Dean Jansa for an issue of Popular Woodworking Magazine (click here for the article).

In the ten plus years since I made the original video, I realized some improvements that could be made to bring this gauge out of the 18th century and up to contemporary standards. So in today’s video, I’ll show you how I make my improved version of the French marking gauge.
